Arla Mary Peabody Guion

Grandpa took his bride to Bermuda for their honeymoon.

Tomorrow, I’ll be posting letters written by Grandpa to his three sons away from home, in 1940. Lad is working in Venezuela and Dan and Ced have been in Alaska for about six months.

  1. This is very impressionist. I love her sweet expression.

  2. Mrs. P says:

Great picture! I have heard mentioned, many people have traveled from the east coast to Bermuda. Even back then it seemed an exotic location. I guess it’s the east coast Hawaii.

  3. Gallivanta says:

An adventurous choice for a honeymoon. 🙂

Gallivanta – The only story Grandpa writes about his honeymoon is one where they rent bikes and go for a ride. Arla doesn’t seem to know how to use the brakes and runs off the road into a stone wall rather than hit some sort of cart. She has just a few scratches. (It goes something like that. I didn’t look it up.)
