Last year, I posted Grandpa’s Christmas cards, at least the ones I have. This year, I’m going to post the Christmas cards Lad and Marian sent. Since I have many more of those, I will be posting them for the entire month of December. I will also post a few of my favorites from Grandpa in correct chronological order. Enjoy.
The message enclosed reads: “In this joyous season, along with the jolly Santa Clauses, gaily bedecked Christmas trees, resplendent wreaths of fir and holly, holiday lighting on trees and on stores, the banks add a practical touch with their ‘Christmas Clubs’.
In a grandfather’s eyes there is a more idealistic and personal form of Christmas Club which far transcends the dollars and cents variety.
In my greeting to you this year, tying the two together is my way of proudly displaying the ‘decorations’ that make this season a 20-fold (count em’) blessing to me.
To a valued friend like yourself I am hoping some of the reverent appreciation will carry over to you in a generous share of Christmas good-will that thoughts of you always bring to mind.
Each “dollar bill” has GUION HOME IMPROVEMENT at the top and BANK and TRUST at the bottom. From left to right in the middle is a picture of THE GUION PLACE, Huguenot Street, New Rochelle; a picture of a grandchild and the GUION Coat of Arms. On the back, each grandchild’s name and birth date, along with their parent’s names. I’ve arranged them according to the birth date of their Guion parent, so Lad’s children come first, then Dan’s, and so on down to Dave’s, to keep families together and avoid confusion.
