Special Picture # 237 – Elsie May Guion

I’ve decided to finish out the week with a few more special pictures. This is one that was included in the 70 + negatives bound in Ella Duryee Guion’s Prayer Book. I had a photo shop print proofs of all of them.

Untitled-13 2

I’m not sure but I think this is Elsie May Guion, Grandpa’s sister, riding a homemade cart down a slight hill near their home. From her apparent age, this might be the Dell Avenue house.

angiemflanagan – Thank you for your comment. I’m glad that you like this view of the past. This weekend, I’m starting to post the story from the beginning with my Grandpa’s Reminiscences and will continue “A Slice of Life” every weekend. Enjoy.

Rick had a homemade cart as a child too…many fond memories!

Mrs. P. – I wonder if Elsie actually built it. She was a unique woman in her day, an equestrian, pilot and traveler. I want to find out more about her.

Mrs. P – Yeah, I had no idea. When she moved in with Grandpa during the end of her life, she was a sweet, old woman with dementia. She would say, “Hi. And what is your name?” I’d tell her and a half hour later, when I went outside to play, she would say the same thing, not remembering who I was. At that time, I didn’t know anything about her. 😦

    Looks like such fun.
