Lad and Marian Guion’s Christmas Cards Throughout the Years – 1949

When Valerie, one of my followers, commented on how much she liked the old Christmas cards in a recent post, it led me on a trip down Memory Lane. I was reminded of the photo Christmas cards that were so popular during the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s. I will be posting the Christmas Cards Marian and Lad sent out each year as their children grew up. Some of you will recognize this type of card, they may be unfamiliar to others. Enjoy them each day for the rest of the month.

This picture was taken in October 22, 1949, on the Island. It was our first trip to this very special place. I believe that we went up in August and stayed until it got too cold. Grandpa stayed with us and my Dad, Lad, got a job in the area. Every late afternoon, Grandpa would row Doug, Greg and me over to the mainland and we would walk down the dirt road until we saw Dad’s car coming toward us. He would pick us up and we would all return to the Island.

The picture is framed by a piece of light cream colored paper. I think it may have been included in a Christmas Card.
