Trumbull House – Very Old Photo – Year Unknown

Trumbull House - very old photo from Beardsley's

This is a very old photo of part of Trumbull Center. The house I grew up in in in the upper third of the photo, two buildings to the right of center.. You can see five windows or doors of the 1756 portion of the house with the addition to the left. Obviously, right in the front is the old railroad station, tracks and railroad cars. When I was growing up, the track had been long gone but we rode our bikes along the river on the smooth railroad track bed, we walked to Taits Road and then up and down the  track bed. We even walked to the Old Swimming Hole farther to the left in the Pequonnock River.

If you read the article in the link above you will read about Old Mine Park. That Park was established when my Grandpa, Alfred Duryee Guion, was First Selectman in Trumbull.

Tomorrow, I will have a picture of the Trumbull House, probably taken in 1923, since it was taken in the summer and Grandpa and Grandma Guion moved in with their 5 children in December of 1922.
